Captain – Owner
Captain Cameron is a fully certified as a United States Coast Guard captain and is the owner and operator of Northern Virginia Sailing School. He has been sailing for over ten years on the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay, and has been teaching sailing certifications since 2010 (previously for Woodbridge Sailing School). He has brought hundreds of students to successful certification in sailing for the American Sailing Association. He has completed a degree in business administration. Ultimately, he is committed to the sailing lifestyle and wants to share his passion and joy of sailing with his students and sailors.
As a self-proclaimed pirate, Kyle has been sailing with us for 8 years now and has lots of experience with inland and open ocean sailing. He graduated from George Mason University in 2013 with a degree in Criminology, Law, and Society and a minor in Psychology and currently has a background investigator. His passion for the outdoors and learning new sports is what draws Kyle to Northern Virginia Sailing School. From skiing down the most extreme slopes of the Northeast, to almost every water sport he can find out there, Kyle has tried them all. His love for sailing began in 2010, when Kyle first achieved his ASA 101 certification. Soon after, Kyle has completed his USCG Captains license as well as numerous ASA certifications.
Growing up in Northern Virginia, Courtney enjoys all elements of the outdoors. She graduated from George Mason University in 2013 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Intelligence Analysis. This fall 2017, she started her journey at medical school to become a Physical Therapy assistant. Her true love for the outdoors lies not only within her own adventures but also in inspiring and teaching others. As a certified ski instructor, ASA sailing instructor, PADI OW Diver, and a licensed USCG Captain, Courtney is always looking for the next skill that she can learn and teach. She has been teaching and certifying ASA students for many years here on the Potomac river and down in the British Virgin Islands.
